Rewriting Russia's history in Odessa will be up to the same scum that are writing current American History of Amoral Opportunists dancing on the dead of the Innocent for strokes and money.

May sane Americans and Russians meet and find a resolution to this unnecessary and dishonorable treatment of Russia as a pariah, when the U.S. would be better served to erase all in Washington DC, if only to save what is left of America.

The Monument to the Soviet Army in Sofia, Bulgaria is being dismantled as we speak.

The "official" reason was that it had cracks and was dangerous and needed to be removed and restored.

They are cutting it in pieces - it tells you no one has intention to restore it.

The cut the hand of the Russian soldier and then his head. The other figures are Bulgarian people, including a child.

They are going to cut the head of the poor child.

All this is doing of the corrupt Bulgarian ruling class paid by the USA.

I am disgusted. There will be a pay day for these fascists!

Thank you Scott, I have always seen the taking of Odessa as inevitable. Doubly so because of the slaughter of the 48 people in the union hall. I realize your schedule is packed, but if you have some time in the coming weeks I would love to hear your take on Putin's 4 hour "state of the nation" address.

Thank you again and very best wishes for a great Christmas and a happy New Year!

Thanks Scott, learned a lot from your article.

Happy to read that Odessa will be Russian again and no longer used as a port to fight Crimea.

Scott ! Please check and comment on the encouragement of an enormous number of Banderites offered generous incentives (housing, pensions, relocation) to retire or relocate in Odessa by a recent Banderite Mayor. Prior to this they were very much in a minority. Sorry I'm ill in hospital and unable to unearth the names and numbers, but this was/is a very significant influence on the balance and representation of the otherwise largely russ populated city.

I visited Odessa in 72 as a tourist and saw "a" statue of Catherine the Great then, so I suspect it must have been pulled down after 72. I remember our female Russian guide saying that all of the statues below Catherine's were her lovers. I pointed out that one of those "lover" statues was of a beautiful women. The young guide just smiled and shrugged her shoulders.

Thanks, Scott. Of so much to be put back in place and good order, the redemption of Odessa is indeed a very symbolic piece of the puzzle that the West smashed and overturned in a typical post-1990 fit of "Mine!" The grifting, gloating pigs who set Russia up for the outlaw oligarchs were largely Americans who got their share of the spoils much as did the Yankee opium potentates in China in the 19th century.

For those who need a somewhat lighthearted take on the 1941 Odessa massacre I recommend the 2018 Romanian film "I Do Not Care If We Go Down in History as Barbarians". and maybe other places.

Thank you Scott! Odessa is my home town, the ancestral land of my paternal ancestors. You've grasped the very gist of the problem.

Mr. Ritter, this can be deleted if you wish, but I found it interesting:

I'm not a Socialist or Communist, and the type of Capitalism I would endorse has never really existed.???

Russia doesn't suffer from Western short attention spans. We're talking about a people whose history reaches back for CENTURIES. They're not going to ignore their own history, nor should they. BTW, I loved the TV mini-series about Catherine The Great - a highly controversial woman but smart as hell. Definitely ranks up there with Cleopatra! That series pops up on Netflix and elsewhere once in a while. See: https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7243884/

Another sign of the moral degradation that the kyiv regime has plunged into. A vandalistic gesture that does not damage Russia's reputation at all, but exposes the miserable attitude of the decrepit neo-Nazi government of Ukraine. Russia will take Odessa and those statues will return to their rightful place. Long live Russia!

The battle for Odessa will be real hardcore, the East against the West, the Light against the Darkness! Just like in the Lord Of The Rings, look to the East ....
