Ukraine, the biggest country in Europe. which after the dissolution of the USSR had everything it needed to become the largest European economy given the natural resources with which it was blessed - such as the most fertile lands, commodities such as gas, oil and minerals, with the largest coal basin in the world at this time already buying coal from the US - and the various cutting-edge industries it inherited from the USSR, such as aeronautics, space, naval, etc., is now the country poorest and most corrupt in Europe. Not to said the biggest offshore corruption center in the US Congress because it works for both parties. It is the only ex-Soviet Republic in the worst economic situation at the time of its independence in 1991!!! It should make everyone think!

Excellent Rebuttal. The more I listen to you and read what you say the more I like and respect you Scott. We share a couple of things in common. First, I was prosecuted twice. The first time I was Acquitted. The second time they convicted but on appeal the verdict was reversed and remanded with an order to dismiss. The appellate court found I should not have been arrested or tried because I had not committed a crime. Second, I am also married to a bright educated Russian woman that has an excellent command of English who has blessed me with her love. I also served my country (US Navy Submarine Service 1968-1972) and I have a high regard for my brother US Marines. Wish you and Marina the very best. Hope we meet someday.

I wish I could ask Scott for the reason why the Russians have either not implemented the S400 system to protect the Donbass from Ukrainian missiles and artillery or why their defense systems are clearly not working. This is an important question, since some Western commentators have posited that in reality Russia (or at least what they would call 'the Putin regime) has not done all that could have been done to protect the people of the Donbass over the years since 2014 and that at some level this conflict smouldering for 8 years and now turned into a hot conflict has served certain political, economic and geopolitical interests which remain well hidden. Personally I do subscribe to this, but why has Russia not used the S400 to protect the Donbass?
