Here I sit with your article and maps looking up names and words to better understand the region. Thank you Scott for your attention to detail. Praying for peace in the new and recovering Kherson and Zaporizhia regions. May they prosper.

Another excellent paper by Scott. Thank you.

Unfortunately too many Americans, particularly those infested in DC, think they are looking at a goldfish bowl when observing the rest of the world, in this case, Russia. But the fact is that they are in a fishbowl looking out.

Only an enforceable detente will end this war and Russia has and will continue to have the best hand. Neither Germany, France, Britain or DC has a history of honoring agreements, so Russia must write the agreement, by herself, on recovered lands.

" in February, the US collected $271 billion in various tax receipts, and spent $567 billion, more than double what it collected." (ZH) So, aside from the obvious cash bleed and all the "seasonality" B.S that they can muster, how is a "strong U.S. economy" coupled with "near full" employment consistent with crushed tax revenue?

Thanks Scott for this...fascinating reading.

I would like to suggest as a person from Europe ................maps.

In Europe we were educated in schools (one lesson a week) how to read maps it's still important today. I know most vehicles have satellite imagery BUT I can't tell you how many Americans get lost trying to find our house.

Even without the ability to get to the frontlines of the conflict, Mr. Ritter has done a huge service to anyone who has enough intellectual curiosity to put fog on mirror. Think about what that says of our mainstream media and the many elected federal and state officials, who continue this complete line of uninformed nonsense that the West must prevail against an Russian Empire. What Scott Ritter glossed over is that even some kilometers from the “frontlines” he was in a conflicted combat environment. Going from point A to point B has its risks. Don’t think so, look at the crater left from a French made and supplied rocket in the bridge/road that he was using to traverse the country side. If he were still on active duty in the US Military no doubt he would be awarded a ribbon for his participation in “combat” operations in the region. Just check out all the fruit salad on the 45 four star generals and admirals in the US military today. The first award and decoration I look for on their many rows, is the Purple Heart, then awards with combat V and multiple stars embedded on that award or decoration that signifies the individual as a combat veteran who possibly had the misfortune of being wounded one way or the other, and did something valorous, or as Dakota Meyer US Marine awarded our nations highest award for individual heroism, says “I just was presented with the opportunity, the rest was luck” or words to that effect.

So in addition to all the great reportage he has done and offered up, Scott refuses to acknowledge that to do that work he put himself well into harms way. But then again he is a US Marine, so what else could we expect!
